今天我演讲的题目是：举手之劳为环保，绿色乐园人更俏。人类是宇宙的宠儿，地球是人类共同的家园。这是大家的共识。我想给大家讲个故事：有一个傍山依水的村庄，村庄附近有一片广袤的森林，森林里什么动物都有。居民们以务农为生，他们和动物和平共处。有一天，一个城里人误入农庄，他在附近遛跶几回，连呼可惜：“拥有如此得天独厚的金矿，你们怎么不知道开发致富呀?”“我们有金矿?在哪?”“你们不知道，这里有的是发财的东西。就说这里的树吧，就价值连城。城里人对木头的需求量很大，很多生活用品都要用到木头。现在城里木头紧缺，你们这里什么都缺，就是木头不缺。你们把树砍下来，加工成木头，不就可以换来大把的钞票吗?再比如，你们把森林里的动物都抓住，皮毛剥下来做成名贵的衣服，肉制成野味，高价出售。总之没个部位都可以变成钱!”对呀，他们怎么没想到呀?这样的钱不要太好赚哦!于是，全村的居民们开始了“致富”的道路……没过多久，方圆千里的树全被砍光，动物也无一幸免。当然农民都过上了幸福的日子。可没过多久，不幸就降临了，一会儿旱，一会儿涝，再也没有风调雨顺的时候，庄稼根本没收成，可吃的东西渐渐也找不到了，全村的人都死了。方圆万里，既无人烟，也看不到任何生命的痕迹，宇宙一片死寂。

我总在想：这个世界如果没有鸟语花香，没有飞禽走兽，没有茂密的森林、清澈的江水，只有自私野蛮的人类，那将是多么可怕!爱护地球母亲，应该先净化校园环境。我们每位同学可以从身边做起，创设一个洁净、美丽的二中附校，让鲜花常开不败，让飞鸟常鸣不衰，让附校人更添娇美。怎么做?很简单，看到哪里有纸屑，我们要弯腰捡起;看到流浪的垃圾，我们要把它送回它的家;看到不文明的行为，我们要随时阻止。举手之劳，你我都能做到。为了美丽的附校，请我们经常弯腰。希望每位附校人把这里当成自己的第二个家，好好爱护它!谢谢!

We live in the world every day. We eat food, drink water, wear clothes, watch TV, use computers and so on. We are producing waste every moment.
Generally speaking, there are four sorts of waste. They are material waste, organic waste, inorganic waste and poisonous & harmful waste. Now, we are going to talk about each sort of waste one by one.
Material waste: it means the waste of substance or things from which something else can be made. For example, people throw away the used metal products and buy a new one, so the old metal waste accumulates. At last, they become waste. For example, when people finish reading newspaper, the paper will become waste. When the glass is broken, it also becomes waste. Nobody wants to use a broken window or drink with a broken glass or wear a pair of broken glasses. Once it is broken, it becomes waste. The rate of using plastics is increasing day by day. People use plastic bags because they are convenient. When they get home, they throw the plastics way, paying no attention to the environment. The more convenience plastics brings to us, the more plastic waste is produced. This is called “white pollution” as most plastics are white. Some of our products we use every day are made of rubber, just like the tyres and the bottom part of our shoes. It’s true that rubber plays an important role in our life. However, it also brings us some trouble when it has been used for a long time and becomes old. The old tyres become waste because it can’t break down by nature. This is really a big problem.

My topic is Honesty.
As a correspondent of the Qingdao Morning News, I visited Dr. James Gilman, the President of the International Committee for Marco Polo Studies in England. In this picture, this is James, and this is me and we are looking at a dragon’s tooth. This is a true story.
65 years ago, James lived in Qingdao. Then he was only 5 years old. He often visited the Aquarium and was fascinated by a creature on display there, which he thought was a dragon. He was afraid of its sharp teeth and wanted one to keep as a treasure.
He kept the tooth for the next 65 years, but the feeling of guilt at having stolen it was there in the background all through his life. It was always on his conscience, and the feeling intensified as he became older. Finally he decided to put right his childish error. In 2002, he visited Qingdao and returned it to the Aquarium with his sincere apologies. He received a warm welcome.
When James visited Qingdao, I accompanied him all the time and reported on his visit. I was deeply touched by his honesty. It has taught me a lot. I think to err is human. The important thing is to have the courage to admit and correct one’s error.
Honesty is a vital quality of human behaviour. So we should try to keep an honest mind in everything we say and do. I would like to say to all of my friends: Let’s be honest people of good moral character.
